How we handle your data
Service work means you send us real operational files. This page says plainly what we do with them. It covers engagement data only — the files and records you send us so we can do the work. For what this website and our products collect from visitors, see our privacy policy.
What we use your files for
Only to deliver the engagement you asked for, and to support you on it afterwards. We do not sell your data, share it with anyone outside the engagement, or use it to market to you or to anyone else.
What we typically process
- Spreadsheet and CSV exports from accounting, billing, CRM, payroll, or project systems
- PDF or scanned documents such as invoices, tickets, statements, and manifests
- Reports exported from a portal or database
- Notes describing your matching rules, tolerances, and known edge cases
Please send only what the job needs. If a file contains personal data, health data, payment card numbers, or government identifiers that are not required for the work, remove or mask those columns before sending. Tell us if you cannot, and we will scope around it.
Who can see it
Tangent Forge is operated by one person, and that operator is the only human who accesses your files. We do not put subcontractors on engagement data without telling you first and getting your agreement.
Where it is processed
Your files are received by email and processed on computers we control. Reconciliation work runs on local software that makes no external network calls, so those files are not sent on to any outside service.
Some document-extraction and drafting work can involve a third-party AI provider. Where that is the case for your engagement, we will name the provider before you send us anything, and you can decline that route — we will then use a local-only method or we will not take the job. Your email provider and ours necessarily handle files in transit.
AI training
We do not use your files to train AI models, and we do not give them to anyone else to train models on.
How long we keep it
We delete the files you sent, and the working copies we made from them, 30 days after we deliver — long enough to answer questions and handle revisions. We keep the deliverable we produced for you, plus ordinary business records such as the invoice and our email thread, for as long as we need them for accounting and tax.
Deleting it sooner, or later
Email us and ask, and we will delete your files and confirm when it is done. We will do this at any point, including immediately on delivery. If you would rather we hold them longer for an ongoing engagement, say so and we will agree a period in writing.
Backups and logs
Working systems keep backups and activity logs, so a copy of a file may persist in a backup for a period after deletion, and logs may record that a file was processed. When you ask for deletion we remove the live copies straight away and let the backups expire on their normal cycle rather than restoring from them.
Security
We limit access to your files, keep them off shared drives, and delete them on the schedule above. We are a small operation and we will not pretend otherwise: we hold no security certification, and nobody can promise that data is absolutely safe. If the work involves data you consider highly sensitive, tell us before you send it so we can agree suitable handling or decline the engagement.
Questions or requests
Email hello@tangentforge.com. We will confirm deletion requests in writing.
